Hi,
I want to thank you for sticking with me this far. It proves that you're serious about helping as many people as you can through your art, and that's great! The world needs that from you now more than ever.
It also means that you understand that getting better at marketing and selling your art is the only way to reach the people who need your art the most.
Getting better at marketing and selling your art is also the only way to turn your passion into a profession. One that gives you the most time to do what you love most: creating beauty that inspires the world.
But many artists that I know view this part of their day as a necessary evil. Something that they hate to do because it takes them away from creating. It really makes them want to bang their head against the wall just thinking about it.
I view it very differently and not for the reasons that you might think. It's not because I'm a marketer and I'm trying justify what I do for a living.
Just like you, I receive my fair share of horrible marketing emails. They're always pitching products and services that I don't really need and that don't live up to their promises. And it makes me angry and sick to my stomach when I get them.
In fact, my very first job as a marketer was working for a company that offered these types of products. I hated working there because I didn't believe in what they were doing. Convincing people to buy from them made me feel dirty.
So I quit and made a promise to myself that I've kept to this day. I swore to only work for companies that were making a real difference in people's lives. And I made sure of that by talking to customers before I ever agreed to work for them.
That's the day that I became a real marketer and my world changed forever. Because on that day my job stopped being a chore that I hated and turned into a joy that I look forward to every day.
You see, a funny thing happens when you believe in the products and services that you market:
That's what the very best marketers do each and every day. And I promise you that if you aspire to the same ideal, this chore that you view as a necessary evil will become one of the biggest joys of your life.
Here's an example of what this looks like. It's an email that was sent to me by Chip Mayes, who's been a member with us since 2018.
Chip took a leap of faith with me earlier this year and started following our Art Marketing Playbook (or AMP for short).
Hello Dave,
I'm going to sit here and blow your mind.
After our conversation, I immediately started making the changes to my website that you recommended. Then I really got started on my email list for my newsletter.
There was one collector whose email I didn't have, but I knew his name. So I found him on LinkedIn and sent him a note asking him if he would like to receive an art letter from me once a month. I also asked him to look at my new website.
I was outside working on the yard this afternoon when I got his reply. He not only gave me his email address, he also purchased three paintings for $5,000!
It was the new website! Oh, and the fact that I contacted him, which reminded him who I was, etc, etc. Thank you so much!
Cheers,
Chip
Can you imagine how this email made me feel? I was floating on a cloud for the rest of the week. My wife kept pinching me awake because I kept daydreaming about how happy Chip felt when he heard back from his collector.
If my reaction seems a bit over the top, you need to understand that this all happened back in April during the first spike in COVID cases in the US.
The news at the time was frightening, as infection rates and deaths were rising in places like New York and Washington state.
We also knew very little about how the infection spread or what its long term effects were. So at the time I was feeling like a lot of us are to this day: uncertain, scared, and powerless to change things.
Chip's news was a welcome reminder that I could still make a difference in the lives of the people that I care about. It gave me hope that things will get better if we all look out for each other.
That's why emails like the one that Chip sent me are a precious gift. I treasure them whenever I get one from the artists that make up our family here at FASO.
By now you've probably guessed that I'm as passionate about marketing and selling in this way as you are about creating. And it's true!
But would you be surprised if I told you that you can learn to feel the same way too? You're just missing an important piece of the puzzle.
In my 8 years here at FASO I've talked to thousands of artists, many of who came around to enjoying marketing as much as I do. And they became wildy successful because of it.
One important thing that they all had in common was that they didn't do it on their own. They had help that consisted of:
So you see, chances are that the reason that you feel the way you do about marketing and selling your art is because you don't have great people like these to rely on.
The good news is that you can find them right here when you join FASO, along with everything else that you need to turn this chore into a joy that fuels your success.
But that's not all. If you happen to get stuck at any point in the process in spite of all of these resources, we've got you covered. Because we've assembled the most impressive group of educational partners, art business coaches, and development partners to help you.
We call it the FASO Partner Network, and it's made up of wonderful people who are experts in their field and can help you master the business side of art.
These partners will help you succeed and accomplish more with AMP and FASO. Best of all, they charge very reasonable rates that most artists on a budget can afford.
With this last puzzle piece in place, you can't help but succeed with us. So I hope you'll join FASO today before my special offer expires this Wednesday, September 30th.
It's really one of the best deals that we have going. Here's what you'll get:
By the way, after your first year you have a ton of options in terms of plans and pricing. You can even cancel your membership if you're not happy (but I know you will be happy with us!).
