Russell Wilson, who is suddenly a surprisingly risky Fantasy option. |
How did we get here? Well, Wilson just hasn't been the same guy since coming back from his injury, and the Seahawks have scored just 13 points in two games since his return -- a shockingly low total for a team that averaged 28.7 points per game a year ago. He just hasn't looked right, and it's been especially apparent when targeting DK Metcalf, who has managed just 57 yards on 16 targets over the past two games. That's a scary sight, one we're definitely not used to. |
But things are shaping up pretty well for a turn around over the next few weeks, starting with Sunday's game against the Washington Football Team. The Football team have been the worst defense in the league against opposing quarterbacks, and it really hasn't been close. They are allowing 27.6 Fantasy points per game, 3.8 more than the second-worst defense in the league; that's bigger than the gap between No. 31 (the Falcons) and No. 17 (the Bears). |
I wrote about Wilson as a buy-low candidate in Wednesday morning's newsletter, and I said it's all about buying into an established elite talent figuring it out. But it's also a little bit about the schedule -- he's got the Football Team this week and then the Texans in Week 14, with the 49ers sandwiched between them. Wilson could be in for a big stretch run, and hopefully, that starts now. |
You can read more about why Jamey Eisenberg says Wilson needs to be in your lineup in his full Start 'Em & Sit 'Em column here. In the rest of today's newsletter, I'm highlighting some of Jamey's favorite start calls and some of the players he'd rather keep on the bench for each position: |
Quarterback Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford |
"Cousins has been great in some tough matchups of late. He's scored at least 21 Fantasy points in each of his past three outings against Baltimore, the Chargers and Green Bay, with two of those games (at BAL and at LAC) on the road. He's actually averaging 27.0 Fantasy points per game on the road, and he should continue to play well against the 49ers. San Francisco has been stingy against opposing quarterbacks of late with no quarterback scoring more than 17 Fantasy points in the past three games against Arizona, the Rams and Jacksonville, but I'm trusting Cousins to deliver a strong performance as a potential top-five quarterback in all leagues." |
Sit 'Em: Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr |
"Tannehill was a train wreck against Houston in Week 11 with four interceptions, and there's no way you can trust him this week at the Patriots, especially if A.J. Brown (chest) is out. He's already down Julio Jones (hamstring) and Marcus Johnson (hamstring), and this is a terrible matchup on the road. New England is No. 2 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and the past five quarterbacks against the Patriots have scored 16 Fantasy points or less." |
|
Running Back Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: David Montgomery and Saquon Barkley |
"Montgomery's best game of the season came in Week 4 against the Lions when he had 23 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns. That's the last time he scored because he missed four games with a knee injury and hasn't found the end zone in two games since his return, so he's due. He has five total touchdowns in his past four games against Detroit, and the Lions have allowed five total touchdowns to opposing running backs in their past four games and 17 total touchdowns for the season. Montgomery has top-10 upside in all leagues this week." |
Sit 'Em: Zack Moss and Alex Collins |
"Matt Breida's involvement the past two games, as well as the matchup with the Saints, means you should sit Moss and Devin Singletary this week. Moss hasn't topped 10 PPR points since Week 5, and he has just one touchdown over that span. He's been at eight carries or less in five games in a row and seven total touches or less in three consecutive outings. Brieda looks more explosive than Moss and Singletary, but none of these running backs should be started against the Saints, who are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. " |
|
Wide Receiver Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Tyler Lockett and Elijah Moore |
"In six complete games with Russell Wilson this year, Lockett has three with at least 15 PPR points and three with seven PPR points or less. That's what you get with Lockett, and you just have to hope this is one of his bigger outings. I'll take my chances with him against Washington, which is No. 4 in Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. For the season, Washington has allowed 16 touchdowns to opposing receivers and 18 to score at least 12 PPR points. Look for Lockett and D.K. Metcalf to both go off Monday night." |
Sit 'Em: Kenny Golladay and Jarvis Landry |
"Golladay will likely see more than the two targets he had in Week 11 at Tampa Bay, and his lack of involvement is likely part of the reason Jason Garrett was fired as offensive coordinator. But even if a barrage of targets are headed in Golladay's direction this week, I don't like the matchup against the Eagles as long as Darius Slay (concussion) is healthy. The Eagles are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, and Golladay has yet to catch a touchdown this year. He also has just one game with more than 10 PPR points." |
Tight End Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Dalton Schultz |
"Schultz will benefit with Amari Cooper (COVID-19) out, and it will help Schultz if CeeDee Lamb (concussion) is out as well. In Week 11 at Kansas City, with Cooper out and Lamb leaving at halftime, Schultz had six catches for 53 yards on eight targets. The Raiders have allowed a tight end to score in five of their past seven games." |
Sit 'Em: Tyler Conklin |
"Conklin was great in Week 10 against the Chargers with 16 PPR points, but I expected him to struggle in Week 11 against Green Bay, which happened with just six PPR points on three catches for 35 yards and three targets. He has another tough matchup in Week 12 at San Francisco, and the 49ers haven't allowed a tight end to gain more than 38 yards since Week 1" |
|
DST Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Bears @DET |
"Whether it's Jared Goff (oblique) or Tim Boyle at quarterback for the Lions, you should be excited to use the Bears DST this week. The Lions haven't scored more than 19 points since Week 1 and have scored 10 points or less in two of their past three games. Goff has been sacked at least four times in four of his past six games, and the Bears have 10 sacks in their past two games against the Steelers and Ravens." |
Sit 'Em: Colts vs. TB |
"The Colts DST has been great the past two games against the Jaguars and Bills. Indianapolis held Jacksonville to 17 points in Week 10 with three sacks and a fumble recovery, and the Colts DST scored a touchdown. In Week 12, the Bills scored just 15 points against Indianapolis, and the Colts had three interceptions and a sack. But this is a tougher test against the Buccaneers, who average 30.9 points per game. Tampa Bay has allowed just 13 sacks on the season and has just 13 turnovers. Hold the Colts DST for Week 13 at Houston, but this is not the week to start this unit against Tampa Bay." |
