Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for July 14. We are officially less than two weeks away from the start of Saints training camp (more on that in a bit). Giddy up! Earlier this week, we chatted numbers and we chatted Jameis Winston, trying to pore through the data to find the meaningful context on the other side. It got me so revved up that I wanted to do something similar with some of the other important players on the roster. Et voila! I present to you, dear readers, these four statistics that might make you consider the 2022 Saints season in a different way/slash reinforce the obviously correct feelings you've had roiling around in your insides during these trying months without real football. You're going to have to read the article for a full breakdown, but here's a teaser: Did you know that Alvin Kamara faced one of the highest percentages of eight-man fronts in football last season? The guy still averaged more than 100 scrimmage yards per game despite career-low receiving totals. Imagine what would be possible in a world where he's not getting so much attention? Friends, that's not so hard to imagine at all: Last year was the first time in Kamara's career he so routinely faced a clogged line of scrimmage. An influx of playmaking talent on this season's roster should go a long way toward loosening things up for the star running back. Get your Sharpies readyThe Saints officially announced their 2022 training camp schedule Tuesday, including the 10 practice dates they are planning to be open for public viewing. If you're the type who likes to watch extremely large, extremely fast, extremely skilled men practice a child's game in extremely hot weather, here's the dates you can do it (and, near the bottom of the article, how you can apply to make sure you snag some of those free tickets). In keeping with tradition, some Saints players will mosey over to the crowd after practice to put their John Hancock on your Saints memorabilia (or, like, your back). As far as media signatures go, I regret to inform you that I am not accepting autograph requests at this time. Here's the Saints kicker getting some work in (aka not missing on Instagram) with his fellow specialist Blake Gillikin.
