Friday 13 June 2025 A weekly round-up of the latest news and information about courts and tribunals |

Our new pre-recorded evidence service, âPREâ, will be rolled out in England and Wales to every Crown Court and the High Court sitting in the Crown Court on 16 June 2025. This follows a successful pilot in 9 courts across England and Wales from July 2023. This service supports the delivery of Section 28 of the Youth and Criminal Justice Act 1999 pre-recorded evidence special measure. PRE is a more flexible system that allows bookings to be made at any time and for users to view recordings the same day as they are made, speeding up the process for all users. The system can also be paused during the recording process, cutting down the time required for editing footage and supporting vulnerable witnesses to give their best evidence.  |

We recently attended the Bar Council of England and Wales annual conference in Birmingham, where the Lady Chief Justice presented alongside experts from across the legal sector and other government departments, exploring developments that are shaping the future of the Bar. The main themes included the role of data in legal practice, and the shifting workplace dynamics within the profession. We held a 'market stall' at the event, so it was a great opportunity to connect with others in the justice sector, share information and ideas, and talk about the priorities of the wider legal sector. |

Our latest monthly management information for April 2024 to April 2025 highlights workload volumes and timeliness at a national level for our civil and family courts, and tribunals. |

At the end of July, using the Online Civil Money Claims (OCMC) service will be mandated for legal representatives issuing and responding to eligible claims made under Practice Direction 51R. Benefits include 24/7 case access and email notifications about case activity. Users also have the ability to issue and respond to a claim, view judge directions, make an application, upload evidence in support and view final orders. OCMC eliminates wait times for the receipt and issue of paper claims and responses. |
