Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! Hope for Our Nation Last August, President Biden executed a chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan that left thousands of Americans behind enemy lines and resulted in the loss of 13 U.S. service members’ lives. This botched withdrawal should serve as a reminder of what not to do in the face of aggression. Senator Joni Ernst and I still have hope for our nation because we know America is a resilient country—it is in our DNA. We have hope because of the American resolve we have shown throughout our history. We have hope because we live in the greatest nation in the world. Click to watch my video with Sen. Ernst Empowering Parents for A Better Future This August, students from all around the country headed back to school. There is no doubt education is the greatest indicator of success in our nation. Sadly, recent reports confirmed what we knew: Prolonged school shutdowns exacerbated learning loss, especially for students in low-income communities. I introduced a bill called the RECOVER Act that will equip parents with the necessary resources to get their students back on track. Students are the future and education is their vehicle to make it great. Spilling the #SCSweetTea and Serving Our Veterans! Countless men and women put on the uniform to serve and protect our nation — some paying the ultimate sacrifice. Our nation is forever indebted to those who selflessly serve. We thank you! This week I am spilling the #SCSweetTea on the Greenville Chamber’s Leadership Greenville Program, which is demonstrating their thanks in the form of a home for a local veteran. Their “Be Hope for a Hero” project reminds us to be a light to others. Read more about the Chamber’s “Be Hope for a Hero” project here. Sincerely, |
