Modern Herilooms We are delighted to have work at every scale in our current exhibition WOOD, and to be featuring exquisite handmade chairs by Jason Mosseri at Hope Springs Chairs. From thrones to milking stools, chairs have been a feature of human life for thousands of years, and the Windsor style has been around for about 300 years. Jason makes elegant, contemporary Windsor chairs, using time honoured tools and techniques, finding ways to express his creativity and vision that enhance the tradition. We have a selection of his beautifully handcrafted chairs and benches in the gallery, that have to be seen in person to be fully appreciated, such is the craftsmanship and finish. Somewhat smaller, but no less refined, are the delightful hand-turned wooden acorns in earrings, bracelets, necklaces and cufflinks by Phoebe Jewellery. They bring a touch of the woodland to your Autumn accessories. Our exhibition features furniture, wood cuts, hand-turned trees, chopping boards, jewellery and all things WOOD! Open this weekend and running until 10th November. Come and see. |

The Cut and Sew crew is back One of our best sellers here at ABtS are the cut and sew character kits designed by Sarah Young. It's a chalenge to keep them on the shelves. The vibrant, silkscreen designs are printed into 100% cotton, which make for fun tea towels when left whole, and which can be cut and simply sewn into a toy, cushion or doorstop - depending on what you choose to stuff them with. (Printed instructions are included!) There are a whole host of characters to choose from, and we are very pleased to have Hester the Hare, Felix the Fox, and Meryl the Mermaid back in stock. Lottie, Nell, Scrimshaw Sam, and Alice are here in the gallery too! Why not collect them all? The more kits you buy, the more you save: we have multi-buy offers when you purchase four or eight kits. They make for great gifts and are very easy to send in the post. The perfect craft project for dark winter evenings to cut, sew and embellish! |

Large Scale Gestural Drawing - Rhythm and Repitition November can be a wild month, especially here on the South coast in a studio so close to the sea. A good time for embracing the weather and moving the body, making large gestural drawings inspired by the energy of this place. Come and immerse yourself in the experience, whether taking a walk by the water’s edge or sheltering in the studio, and translate those invigorating sensations into marks on the page. Using pencil, charcoal and mixed media, you will make small drawings outside (November weather permitting!), returning to the studio to put your observations through a process of repetition, working on large-scale drawings (4ftx8ft) over two days. Join us on the 20th & 21st of November. Book now! |
