When Bill and Kellie bought their brick bungalow in 2012, they were seduced by its near-century-old charms. But with all its allure came a mishmash of rooms from serial renovations and a clumsy floorplan. Calling upon interior designers Courtney Atkinson and Marissa Hamling of Bone and Blanc Interiors for help, the pair set about making the back section work better for their active and social family. “We wanted somewhere all our family and friends could gather and spend quality time together, [that was] open and bright, with natural materials – resort-style living while keeping the home’s heritage charm,” says Kellie. For the overall look, says Courtney, “They wanted a layering of textures and light, earthy tones – coastal Mediterranean with a mix of heritage.” |
