Although it was blessed with beautiful design details, this c1920s California bungalow was not fit for modern family living. In 2018, the homeowners turned to building designer Sam Bell of Bellhaus to rework the property. 'The original part of the house was in quite good condition with some nice features, such as the original ceilings and panelling, so we wanted to retain as much of the character as we could while knocking off the dodgy extension out the back and reworking the floor plan.” Packed with natural light and hardy materials, and treated to an extension that smoothly transitions from old to new, the home is equal parts charm and durability. |
