"So the question "How am I to live in this world?" has now become "How am I to change?" - bearing in mind that the how doesn't mean a method, but is an enquiry to understand. What is change? Is there any change at all? Or can you ask whether there is any change at all only after there has been a total change and revolution? Let's begin again to find out what this word means.
Change implies a movement from what is to something different. Is this something different merely an opposite, or does it belong to a different order altogether? If it is merely an opposite then it is not different at all, because all opposites are mutually dependent, like hot and cold, high and low. The opposite is contained within, and determined by, its opposite; it exists only in comparison, and things that are comparative have different measures of the same quality, and therefore they are similar. So change to an opposite is no change at all. Even if this going towards what seems different gives you the feeling that you are really doing something, it is an illusion."
The Krishnamurti Center attracts people who come to learn about themselves using Kâs teachings as a basis for inquiry. Under new county regulations, Iâm happy to announce that the Krishnamurti Library & Study Center is open to the public starting Friday, June 11, 2021. The new hours are: Tuesday-Friday 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM, Saturday-Sunday 10 am - 5 pm, Monday closed. The address is: 1098 McAndrew Road, Ojai, CA. We hope to see you soon.
In the book The Urgency of Change, Krishnamurti encourages us to feel the importance of an inward revolution â a total and fundamental transformation. He says that "the human crisis is so extraordinary, so intricate, so subtle, that it urgently demands that we have a new mind and a new heart." Krishnamurti suggests that real psychological change occurs in the individual when one is free from fear, conditioning, authority, and dogma through self-knowledge. A new edition of this classic book is finally back in stock for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the teachings.
Here at the KFA, we feel the urgency to continue preserving and maintaining what the teachings inspire for everyone. We welcome those with a serious interest in Krishnamurtiâs teachings to help us in making this work possible through volunteer or employment opportunities. If this applies to you, please click here to contact us. We appreciate hearing of your interest and any skills or experience you have.
June marks the last month of our Spring Appeal. Your financial support is significantly appreciated during these extraordinary times. Donors like you help us provide unique opportunities for discovering and studying the teachings both in-person and online. Your financial contributions also help us create spaces for inquiry and self-exploration, benefiting each individual and humanity as a whole. Understanding Krishnamurti: An Inquiry into the Nature of Thought Online Program July 12 - 21
Krishnamurti's teachings are extremely comprehensive, and they challenge us to examine the whole of life. In a somewhat similar manner, can we examine the teachings themselves as a whole, as a totality? We will explore this question by looking at five "dimensions" of the man and his message: the psychological teachings, the religious teachings, the nature teachings, the personal dimension and the public dimension. This workshop examines each of these aspects or elements of Krishnamurti and his work.
In Total Silence the Mind Comes Upon the Eternal Our Spring Appeal
Our mission of disseminating the work of Krishnamurti through the Foundation, the Krishnamurti Center, and Oak Grove School, can only continue with your support.
The Never-Ending Cycle of Becoming Online Program August 2 - 6
Our whole way of life is centered around the concept of time and âbecomingâ something.
During the course of these five days, we will look deeply together at the relentless process of evaluating, judging, and comparing that leads to this elusive cycle.
Oak Grove's "Day of Reading" is an annual event where all students and faculty spend the day celebrating books and reading. Everyone wears pajamas, and students bring a favorite stuffy and a book of their choosing. In this video, students are interviewed about their reading preferences. The answers speak for themselves.
