| Fix your slice with this simple key John Marshall, Golf Digest Certified Teacher Steel Canyon G.C., Atlanta, GA | If you find yourself slicing your tee shots, the problem could be too much of a good thing—side bend. Most of us have been told that optimum driver launch happens when we hit up on the ball, so we increase our shoulder tilt, or side bend, at set up. However, if you tilt too much and maintain that position through the downswing, you’ll create a swing path that’s too far inside. To correct this common mistake, first reduce your shoulder tilt. Then, grab an iron and a tee to groove a better swing path with this simple drill: Place the tee a foot behind your ball position, roughly two inches inside the target line. Make a few swings, avoiding the tee. It’s simple, but it works! | |
