Prototyping has essentially been a part of concept development throughout human history. However, the focus for most professional inventors and innovators tended to lean more towards planning and research. For a long time, prototyping was reserved for amateurs and laypeople trying to bring a concept to life. In the second half of the 20th century, technological developments led to a much more rapid pace of research and design. As a result, prototyping became more acceptable in the professional design world. |
