Travis Roy, 20 Years Later

Exactly 20 years after Travis Roy (COM’00) was paralyzed in his first BU hockey game, he was widely celebrated: he appeared on ESPN, the Boston Bruins signed him to a one-day contract, Boston’s mayor declared October 20 “Travis Roy Day,” and anonymous donors gave $2.5M to the Travis Roy Foundation, which helps those with spinal cord injuries lead independent lives.
