NATIONAL: The SEARCH Foundation has announced its incoming board of directors for 2022, which includes chairwoman Kate Patay of Patay Consulting, vice chair Patrick McMichael of Denon & Doyle, treasurer Larry Green of International Event Products, secretary David Lombardo of Lombardo’s and executive advisor Joann Roth-Oseary of Someone’s in the Kitchen, along with a variety of directors from across the event industry. The SEARCH Foundation exists to assist event, meeting, catering and hospitality professionals faced with a crisis. Convene—a provider of premium virtual and hybrid events with a network of meeting, event and workplace locations—is enhancing its virtual and hybrid meeting product, Convene Studio, by embedding the Amazon Chime software development kit (SDK) voice and video capability into the product. Convene’s breakout sessions will now be hosted on a custom-built player, allowing users to stay within the platform for breakout sessions and have a simpler user experience. ANAHEIM, CALIF: Toy and collectible event DesignerCon takes place Nov. 12-13 as the first major event at the Anaheim Convention Center in more than a year. The convention will feature exclusive releases from brands like Pop Mart, DKE Toys and MONDO, plus panels, VIP parties, live art competitions and more. LAS VEGAS: Stations Casino has announced the return of its summer internship program, which allows students real-world, paid experience working in the hospitality and gaming industry. Interns gain experience in the fields of marketing, social media and PR, hotel management, human resources, casino operations, culinary operations and finance. The 12-week program includes housing at Red Rock Casino, Green Valley Ranch, Sunset Station or Palace Station. MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed Carol Motley as the next senior vice president of convention sales and services, where she’ll be responsible for driving occupancy and attendance for conventions, trade shows and meetings in Greater Miami and Miami Beach.
