This session will offer a look into how various validated models of pain, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions can be tactically incorporated into early testing batteries of cognition and safety to evaluate a drug’s potential for abuse or dependence, as well as its ability to enhance or impair performance. Customized approaches that can be adapted to major therapeutic areas will also be reviewed.

In this session you will:

Learn about various pharmacodynamic models that can provide early indicators of efficacy; Discover how pharmacodynamic models can facilitate the rapid identification of targeted clinical benefits in patient populations; Consider specialized models (eg, cold pressor test, CO2 challenge test) that can inform clinical development decisions; Learn how various cognitive, subjective, and physiological endpoints can converge to augment the knowledge about the safety, efficacy, and PK profile of the study drug; and Recognize how early pharmacodynamic testing can help with strategic product differentiation and funding opportunities.
