NATIONAL: Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announced its 2023 artist lineup for its annual Kimpton Off the Record series. The event will kick off Feb. 23 with musical artist Christian Kuria at Phoenix's Kimpton Hotel Palomar, in its newly opened Eden Restaurant. Then, alternative pop band The Aces will perform at the newly opened L.O.A. rooftop at Kimpton Alma in San Diego on March 10. New Orleans-based Tank and The Bangas will take the stage at the brand-new King Restaurant’s Terrace at NOLA's Kimpton Hotel Fontenot on June 1. Tickets to Kimpton Off the Record are available on the hospitality company's website.
CHICAGO: WoodWind—a 12,000-square-foot space located on the 18th floor of the Lavin Family Pavilion on the Northwestern Medicine Downtown Campus—launched a catering program on Feb. 10. Created by executive chef Alex Cabrera, the menu features breakfast, lunch, and dinner options off WoodWind's signature menu. Catered platters are available for pickup or delivery.
NEW YORK: Chef Salil Mehta teamed up with culinary director Margaret Goh to open Kebaya on Feb. 14 in Manhattan's Union Square. The concept is New York’s first restaurant dedicated solely to Peranakan food, which is unique to Singapore, Malaysia, and the coastal areas of Indonesia's Java and Sumatra islands. One of its featured signature dishes is the “poisonous” buah keluak from the Pangium tree, which is treated and cured specially so that it can be eaten safely, as well as dishes and recipes that have been passed down through generations of Goh’s family.
TEMPE, ARIZ.: Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is accepting group bookings in advance of its April 28 opening. Upon its debut, the 330-key hotel will offer 36,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space, a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, and Lucero, a rooftop lounge and terrace with indoor and outdoor dining.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: The world's first immersive social video game company, Beat the Bomb, has opened its third location in Washington, D.C. Located in a 10,300-square-foot venue in the Hecht Warehouse, groups of four to six guests are invited to suit up in hazmat gear and advance through five high-tech game rooms to complete their mission of defeating the giant paint bomb. If the team fails, they are blasted with neon paint and can reattempt their mission or try out a different mission. The venue also offers private arcade bays, a 1,225-square-foot beer garden, as well as food and drink offerings.
