Implementing a dual LED strategy, using both under-canopy and top-canopy fixtures, can effectively compensate for the loss of radiant heat typically observed with HPS lighting. This approach elevates leaf surface temperature, which in turn promotes both transpiration and photosynthesis.

Although the overall electrical input remains similar between the HPS and LED configurations in this example, the LED system delivers a substantially higher amount of photosynthetically active radiation light that is more uniformly distributed across the entire canopy, thereby driving higher yields.

The team at Thrive Agritech, the industry leader in research-based LED lighting solutions, provides a real-world example how cannabis cultivators can incorporate LED lighting without sacrificing plant transpiration in this month’s special report, which offers practical steps for implementation.
