T’is the season…
When many clients ask me health-related questions.
This subject is top of mind for everybody right now… So this week I want to share some of my best health, diet, exercise, and energy advice with YOU.
Let’s dive in with a question that is very important to me.
What’s the #1 thing you do for longevity? Is it… - IR sauna? - Cold plunge? - Green juicing? - Morning meditation? - Working out twice per day? - Taking 30 horse-sized supplement pills at breakfast like the health influencers on TikTok? - Or maybe a bottle of wine & a cigarette (like those French women who live to 120)?
My answer: None of those things. Forget biohacking… I believe that aggressive screening for early onset of diseases is the #1 thing you can do to extend your lifespan.
Longevity through detection & subtraction.
And this is now more easily available than ever. Last month I did a 45-minute full body MRI at a company called Prenuvo.
This screen scans your entire body for cancer, aneurysms, MS, gallstones, fatty liver, and hundreds of other conditions.
Why is this so important? Well, for example… If you detect cancer at stage 1 you have a much greater chance of beating it… but if you don’t find it until stage 4, your outlook is grim… no matter how much biohacking you do.
That's why I believe that for only $2,500, a Prenuvo scan is one of the best weapons you have for living longer.
As you might have learned by now…
My approach to life is to keep everything simple.
I don’t chase biohacks — IMO trying everything under the sun and taking 65 supplements per day is more likely to drive you mad than make you live longer.
My friend and mentor Dr John Berardi recommends a simple three-prong testing approach which he recently shared on Instagram. John was co-founder of Precision Nutrition… he sold that business for 9-figures and lives a “life of leisure” these days. John’s recommendations are: 1) Comprehensive blood panel (annually)
2) Whole body MRI (every 3-5 yrs)
3) Coronary calcium scan (also 3-5 yrs)
Note: John does some additional genetic screening that I am not sold on doing.
If you’re over 35, this is a great plan.
Under 35, the blood panel is likely fine unless you have some family history of cancer or heart disease that warrants early testing.
Now I must give you this…
Warning: If you do the Prenuvo test, you could get some seriously bad news.
Fortunately, I did not.
But if something is there, it’s better you find out now than later.
Not doing the test doesn’t make the bad news not exist.
Read that again.
Also, a 2nd warning:
Everyone’s Prenuvo test results will likely make them feel slightly bad in some way.
Even Dr. Berardi and my results showed signs of aging (degenerative joints for both of us, inflamed prostate for me, and what looks like kidney stones for him).
But again, NOT knowing doesn’t make the problems not exist. You just learn about them earlier. Which could give you an opportunity to slow or completely circumvent any really negative health outcomes. That’s the whole idea.
Yes, the Prenuvo test will remind you that you ain't gonna be 21 forever.
However…
Health is wealth.
And aggressive screening is the best investment.
So what else should you be doing for your health on a more day-to-day basis?
