Good morning and thanks for joining us this Saturday morning. Here are some of the day's top headlines. No crawfishing: This year’s crawfish season is, well, not so great, right? Low supplies. High prices. But, our dining writer Ian McNulty notes, we soldier on. No crawfishing on our commitment to the mudbugs. Speaking of . . . who do you think boils the best bugs? Vote now in our “Champs of Crawfish” bracket. LSU anthem response: LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward has responded to Gov. Jeff Landry’s demand that athletes at Louisiana’s public universities be present when the national anthem is played at sporting events. LSU, Woodward said in a carefully worded statement, is dedicated to the flag, the anthem and the U.S. Hall of Famers: Louisiana’s Political Hall of Fame will induct a new class tonight. The roster is led by one name that has loomed large over the state for the past eight years, Tyle Bridges writes. Cheap martinis: It's one of the great traditions in New Orleans lunching. Now, dining writer Chelsea Shannon gives us a bit of the backstory behind the .25-cent martini. Cheers! Thanks for reading, and check out all the latest news, sports and entertainment coverage from The Times-Picayune. Chad |
