Good morning, Marketer, and cling to your guardrails. Last week’s Salesforce Connections event was AI-driven to the max. Trailblazers, the Salesforce user community, was renamed TrAIlblazers, while a banner over the entrance to the expo floor read “Customer Love is in the AIr.” Trepidation among marketers about AI was not entirely overlooked, however. A new survey of 1,000 marketers by Salesforce found that, while they expect generative AI to save them time (around five hours per week, almost 40% said they don’t know how to use it safely. Concerns about accuracy, about “hallucinations” (AI making stuff up) and about data safety came up in my conversation with Salesforce’s Jay Wilder. Many brands will take these issues seriously, but you can guarantee there will be some mishaps along the way. Kim Davis, Editorial Director |
