Today is Satuerday, April 15 ___________________________________________________ History: Today, April 15 in 1923, Insulin became generally available for people suffering with diabetes. ____________________________________________________ Bonehead Award: Ohio nut demands repaerations at Targert in Ohio _____________________________________________________ Q A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. --- Herm Albright (1876 - 1944) The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work. --- Richard Bach ______________________________________________________ >From Linda I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?" To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?" She smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask." When my daughter quipped: "Maybe they put the moose in yours instead of mine?" the whole line burst out laughing. ___________________________________________________ Quarz/Hematite ____________________________________________________ A philosophy professor, widely noted as being more than casually eccentric, gave a one question final exam after an entire semester dealing with a broad array of topics. The class was seated and ready, when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: "Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist." Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion. Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair. One student, however, was up and finished in less than a minute. Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how this person could have received the highest grade when he had barely written anything. They found his answer consisted of two words: "What chair?" -------------- I member that professor! ____________________________________________________ Scratching her back You might have to click through the picture to see the full size. _______________________________________________ A Yankee and a Scot were walking one day near the foot of one of the Scotish mountains. The Scot, wishing to impress the visitor, produced a famous echo to be heard in that place. When the echo returned clearly after nearly four minutes, the proud Scotsman, turning to the Yankee, exclaimed: "There, mon, ye canna show anything like that in your country!" "Oh I don't know," said the American, "I guess we can better that. Why, in my camp in the Rockies, when I go to bed I just lean out the window and call out, 'Time to get up; wake up!' and eight hours later the echo comes back and wakes me." _______________________________________________ An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Karen Ivery, 37, Blue Ash, Ohio, USA Ohio nut demands repaerations at Tagt in Ohio Newly released bodycam video shows the arrest of a woman who allegedly told Target employees they should give her items for free because she deserved reparations, court documents say. It happened last October at the Target on Plainfield Road in Blue Ash, according to Blue Ash police. Reading resident Karen Ivery, 37, became belligerent and totally unruly when she said she was not going to have enough money to pay for the merchandise that had been scanned, totaling $1,051, the Target cashier told police, according to an affidavit. I decided to take a stand, Ivery later told police, as shown in bodycam footage. This is my Rosa Parks moment. The cashier flagged a supervisor, who told police Ivery asked that Target give her reparations and then went on a spiel about how Ive lived a privileged life and shes owed this, an officer wrote in court documents. The supervisor said Ivery pushed her into the soda machines at the cafe counter. I put my hands on her shoulders, attempting to keep some space between us, but her body was physically touching mine, she told police. The affidavit states that Ivery then went haywire and started screaming, the supervisor said. Bodycam footage shows Ivery telling officers she was trying to have a larger conversation about how money works. We all know money has not treated people equally, she said, per the bodycam footage. Later, she added: The system is rigged against people doing the right thing. A manager tried and failed to calm Ivery down, at which point he walked back to the security office, the supervisor told police. He said he tried to shut and lock the door, but Ivery forced her way into the office. Thats when he punched her in fear for my safety, he told police in an affidavit. Ivery was charged with disorderly conduct and menacing. She did not gert money or free meerchandise, just a sore nose and a ceriminal rercord. _______________________________________________ DeaWebby's Tech Support Pits From: Moe Re: Combo Keys shortcuts Dear Webby, How about a recap of the hidden keys, the combo keys? Moe Dear Moe Most important combo is CTRL F4 If a site is a nuisance or attacks you, hit CTRL F4 and that tab closes. Some scammers block that combo, in that case hit ALT F4. That shuts down the browser. Go get ssome coffee. By the time you are back, you can usually restart the browser and restore the tabs. Close the tab that had led you into trouble. That brings me to the next combo: CTRL W Once you have identified the tab that led you into trouble, DON'T CLICK IT! Just highlight it and hit CTRL W and it has gone to hell. Also very important is CTRL SHIFT T If your spouse wants you to come to bed NOW and shuts down your browser, and you open it again later, it should ask you if you want to restore your previously open 57 tabs. Well, sometimes it opens multiple browser windows and you close too many of them without clicking RESTORE. Don't worry. They have not gone to hell. Just hit CTRL SHIFT T, twice if necessary, and sit back. It will restore all your tabs. You can also use CTRL SHIFT T to re-open a just closed tab. To get to the URL line, CTRL L To see the history and find that forgotten URL: CTRL H To Refresh a page: Ctrl R In Facebook, the J and the K keys scroll you down or up a page. If the spouse or boss is approaching, hitting the space bar "accidentally" instantly scrolls you down a page. Once the coast is clear, hit SHIFT and Spacebar to jump back up. Bookmark a page: CTRL D I haave no idea why they chose D for that, but that goes back to the good old days of Netscape. Another mystery key is CTRL K. It jumps to the search box If you want to go to the first tab: CTRL 1 Second tab: CTRL 2, and so on. Zoom in without mousing: CTRL +. Zoom OUT: CTRL - add .com to a URL: CTRL ENTER That goes back to the days when .com was the only choice. OK, that is enough for now. Have FUN!
