F. Stone (1907 - 1989) _____________________________________________________ Two elderly couples were enjoying friendly conversation when one of the men asked the other, "Fred, how was the memory clinic you went to last month?" "Outstanding," Fred replied. "They taught us all the latest psychological techniques: visualization, association, etc. It was great." "That's great! And what was the name of the clinic?" Fred went blank. He thought and thought, but couldn't remember. Then a smile broke across his face and he asked, "What do you call that flower with the long stem and thorns?" "You mean a rose?" "Yes, that's it!" Fred turned to his wife. "Rose, what was the name of that memory clinic?" _____________________________________________________ Rebutia Heliosa Mauricio Javier Bravo ___________________________________________________ THE ANNIVERSARY While enjoying an early morning breakfast in a northern Arizona cafe, four elderly ranchers were discussing everything from cattle, horses, and weather to how things used to be in the "good old days." Eventually the conversation moved on to their spouses. One gentleman turned to the fellow on his right and asked, "Roy, aren't you and your bride celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary soon?" "Yup, we sure are," Roy replied. "Well, are you gonna do anything special to celebrate?" another man asked. The old gentleman pondered this for a moment, then replied, "For our 25th anniversary, I took Bea to Tucson. Maybe for our 50th, I'll go down there and get her, and bring her back." _______________________________________________ An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Jason Barajas 32, Wichita, Kansas, USA 4 years for carjacking van with 3 children inside A Wichita man accused of carjacking a vehicle with three children inside has been sentenced to 47 months in prison. According to a press release from District Attorney Marc Bennett, 32-year-old Jason Barajas was sentenced on Tuesday in District Court in Wichita. On June 19, 2019, Wichita police were dispatched to a convenience store in the 2100 block of South Broadway. A woman told police she had gone into the convenient store and left her three children, a two-year-old , one-year-old and eight-month-old, in the van. The keys were left in the vehicle and it was stolen while the woman was inside. Police requested 911 to "geo-locate" the van by "pinging" the mother's cellphone that had been left in the vehicle. The children and vehicle were found a half-hour later in the 1500 block of South Gold abandoned, with the windows rolled up. Bennett's office said the temperature at the time was around 80 degrees and that officers said the children were sweating from the heat and crying in the back seat. Another cellphone was reportedly found in the van that did not belong to the mother which police used to track down Barajas. Police later discovered that Barajas had been sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked next to the van when he watched the mother enter the convenience store. On Oct. 7, 2020, Barajas pled guilty to theft and aggravated endangering a child, according to Bennett's office. DearWebby's Tech Support Pits From: Corey Re: Does a screensaver slow down a download? Dear Webby, Does a screensaver slow down a long download ? Corey Dear Corey If you use one of the standard screensavers that come with Windows, then they won't slow down a download. If you use third party screensaver, you will have to test them and see. Most don't affect downloads, but some, especially slide show type screensavers, do access the hard drive and could slow doan your downloads. Have FUN! Mom smiled and then replied ... "I remember." ____________________________________________ "Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees.
