Hurricane Ian forms: Ian is now a hurricane and is expected to slide across part of Cuba Tuesday then make its way to the central Florida coast, possibly near Tampa, as a major hurricane later in the week. Bullying: One benefit of the pandemic? Reported cases of bullying in schools went down, as more and more kids learned from home. But as students returned, bullying cases also began to rise. Marie Fazio writes about one family's story. Monday blues: What an awful Saints game, eh? Hard to watch. As the team prepares for next week’s game in London, columnists Jeff Duncan (read Duncan here) and Rod Walker (read Walker here) offer their takes on where everyone’s fave football team stands. Spoiler alert: The words “humbling,” “soul searching” and “regroup” make appearances. Ugh! (Check out the live chat Rod and Jeff had with fans this morning.) Forfeits: Sticking with football, Edna Karr, a perennial high school powerhouse, has had to forfeit three wins this season. Chris Dabe, who covers prep football, has the details and what might happen next. Merci, Frenchy: Here's a nice story you might have missed last week. Norris Morvant, a 98-year-old Thibodaux man, received France's highest honor for his work helping the Allies win World War II during a ceremony at the National WWII Museum. John Pope writes that Morvant's courage -- and the ability to speak fluent French -- set him apart. Thanks for reading Lunch Line today – and remember, you can keep up all day long at NOLA.com. Bob |
