This intensive, highly practical training is designed to help persons new to hydro be more productive more quickly and to help persons with limited hydro experience expand their knowledge. See Details Addressing Retrofit Opportunities for Excitation Systems limited to 80 attendees Discuss the latest in excitation upgrades and technology, learn how to reduce the impact on schedules and budgets for retrofits, and gain an understanding of all options available when planning to upgrade your excitation system. See Details Don't Be Left in the Dark - An Excitation System Primer limited to 75 attendees Increase your knowledge of the crucial role of the generation excitation system/automatic voltage regulator in your power plant and what to look for in an excitation system in order to make informed business decisions. Benefit from speaking with excitation system experts. See Details Hydrogenerator Stator Winding Maintenance Course limited to 25 attendees In this event, you will learn about stator winding design and failure mechanisms, understand stator winding typical tests and repair options in a maintenance context, and promote a better understanding of condition based (predictive) maintenance. See Details Hydropower Innovation: EPRI Research & Insights limited to 35 attendees EPRI will discuss systemic issues in the hydropower industry: Flexible Operations, Hydropower Valuation, Asset Management and Environmental Impacts, and discuss the work ongoing being performed to combat these issues. See Details | | In-the-Field Tech Tours | Bonneville Lock and Dam and Dalles Hydroelectric Facilities limited to 50 attendees This tour features two hydroelectric facilities operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. At 2,100 MW, The Dalles is one of the ten largest hydropower facilities in the U.S. It was completed in 1957 to provide the Pacific Northwest with a reliable water source for hydropower, navigation, recreation, fish passage, irrigation and flood mitigation. See Details Irrigation Hydro limited to 30 attendees In-conduit hydropower projects are experiencing a resurgence in the western U.S. as irrigation districts convert open canals used to transport water for agricultural use into piped, pressurized systems. Two Oregon-based non-profits, Farmers Conservation Alliance and Energy Trust of Oregon, are leading these efforts through a process they call Irrigation Modernization. The benefits go beyond hydropower and include water conservation, river restoration, agricultural resilience, rural economic development and even wildfire protection. See Details Lewis River: Merwin Dam limited to 30 attendees This tour takes participants to the 136-MW Merwin Dam hydro facility on the Lewis River. This is one element of the three-powerhouse Lewis River Hydroelectric Project, which has a total capacity of 510 MW. All of these projects are located in a scenic area near Mt. St. Helens in the Cascade mountain range. See Details

The6th AnnualHydropower Foundation Turbine Runner 5K isfun run leaving from the Eastbank Esplanade heading through Portland and the waterfront. This run is a great way to see the city, meet fellow runners, bring a team of co-workers together for bonding and raising money for the Hydropower Foundation, which works to support hydro education, research and furthering the future of the hydropower industry.
