I-49 Connector will be done 'in most of your lifetimes,' lawmaker says

Good morning, Acadiana. Let's get down to business.

The elevated stretch of Interstate 49 along the edge of downtown Lafayette will be built “in most of your lifetimes” thanks to $200 million in one-time funding approved by the state legislature, Senate President Page Cortez said during this morning’s legislative session recap put on by One Acadiana. The money could keep the longtime project moving with funding also to improve the bridge over the Vermilion River. The project will be kicked off in the spring of 2023, he said.

Metal Shark: This Acadiana company is making 23 vessels to help Ukraine's navy fight Russia

Six U.S. Navy 40 PB maritime combat vessels are headed to Ukraine as part of a $450 million military security package to help the country better protect its waterways and ports. The 40-foot-long patrol boats were built by Metal Shark's Acadiana shipyards and delivered to the Navy last year as part of a contract to build 50 vessels.
