Wow, Friend. Just…wow. |
On Tuesday, I announced that the Forward had removed the paywall and made all our journalism free — to anyone, anywhere, at any time.
In response, we received an incredible outpouring of support. Just take a look at a few of the messages that hit our inbox in the last 48 hours: |
“I’m writing to you from London today to say congratulations on the momentous decision to take down the paywall. As a journalist I appreciate there is a value to news and understand those who work so hard to investigate, research and disseminate news need to make a living so I was happy to pay for the Forward’s great journalism.” | “Thank you for making the Forward available to us all — I am on fixed income and could not afford otherwise.” |
| “The Forward connects me to Jewish life past and present.” | “I think this is incredible. I am a lifetime follower/subscriber and during these times I often want friends to see your articles. The Forward was always in my home.” | “You write smart, accessible, fair and thoughtful articles and this is rare in these confusing times.” |

Tonight, as we light the first candle in the menorah, we are reminded once again of the power of light to help us navigate the dark. These are dark times for Israelis, Jews and the world. Your outpouring of support shows us that the American Jewish community relies on the Forward to shed light in these difficult times and brings clarity to the chaos.
Make a Hanukkah gift today to support our nonprofit newsroom and keep access free for all. |

Chag sameach,

P.S. All Hanukkah donors are invited to join the Forward for a virtual event with award-winning NPR legal correspondent Nina Totenberg on Dec. 13! |
