Don't spend your Fourth of July at a mall (unless, of course, crowded spaces and long lines are your thing). Instead, I suggest you do what I'm doing, and shop the sales a day early from the comfort of your couch.

There are two major double-discounts sales I'm definitely not skipping. At J.Crew, more than 1,200 styles are an extra 50 percent off with the code EXTRA, but the three I'm grabbing are this 78-percent-off LBD, these denim shorts with cute sailor pockets, and a trendy, mirror-adorned red skirt. At Madewell, you can take an extra 30 percent off markdowns, like this editor-approved puff-sleeve dress, these under-$50 leg-elongating jeans, and this summer-ready macramé rope bag, with the code SUMMERTIME.

The other sale I've deemed a can't-miss is Nordstrom's Fourth of July Sale: I found so many of this season's must-have items for less than $100. These Havaianas flip-flops are now just $23, this breezy dress with a comfy smocked bodice is $25, and this 60-percent-off, waist-cinching white maxi skirt is $50.

My advice is to take advantage of these deals while you can—why spend the long weekend at a mall when you could spend it poolside?
