What It Was Like to Stunt Double for Ryan Gosling in "The Fall Guy"

Ben Jenkin has been a stunt double for some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Jason Statham, Matthew McConaughey and Ewan McGregor. But arguably the biggest opportunity of his career came via a phone call from renowned stunt designer Chris O’Hara, for a project that would pay homage to his beloved industry.

Jenkin, a parkour specialist hailing from England, was recruited for the four-man team behind Ryan Gosling’s character Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy, the action-packed epic from stunt-legend-turned-auteur David Leitch and Kelly McCormick of 87North Productions. We spoke with Jenkin for a behind-the-scenes look at how he built (and survived) the stunts of The Fall Guy.

Review: The 2024 McLaren 750S Resets the Supercar Benchmark

When the 720S debuted in 2017, it was a coming-of-age moment for McLaren’s fledging road car brand. Ferrari and Lamborghini had long enjoyed their reputation as the supercar standard-bearers, but with this new offering, McLaren suddenly had a compelling argument of its own.

Since then, the performance car realm has changed substantially. As the successor to the 720S, the new 750S finds itself in a landscape of sophisticated all-wheel drive systems and monstrously powerful EVs. On paper, this sports car’s V8 might seem underwhelming when there are factory-produced machines with horsepower figures that venture into quadruple-digit territory, but McLaren is a company that has a habit of focusing on the long-established fundamentals of sports car design rather than chasing the latest hype.

As a result, the 750S might just be the most thrilling road car that money can buy today.

Last week we asked you if you like Negronis, and the results were pretty close: 39% of you have one only on occasion, while 31% of you said they’re not for you and 30% of you admitted to drinking them almost too frequently.

Revisiting the Classics: Four Roses Small Batch

What we’re revisiting: Four Roses Small Batch

Where it’s from: Four Roses, launched in 1888, is a Lawrenceburg, Kentucky-based distillery that was extremely popular in the United States in the early 20th century before being sidelined into an exclusive release for Europe and Asia. It returned in the early aughts and has since become a well-awarded brand.

Why we’re drinking this: We gave Four Roses our Distillery of the Year honors in 2021, right after visiting the bourbon brand’s new Lawrenceburg visitor center. And we’ve been huge fans of the brand because they keep their core products at a purposely modest price point.

This Coastal Maine Town Is Preserved in Time (in the Best Way Possible)

There’s something inherently charming and pure about Maine. Simultaneously one of the most densely forested states and the least densely populated, it’s a place that feels naturally peaceful and preserved. Despite its nickname, Vacationland, this isn’t a state known for touristy crowds or attractions, but rather one of natural beauty, pine-perfumed air and unpretentious leisure. It’s evident all along Maine’s mighty coast, where even the most touristy spots, like Portland and Bar Harbor, are still comparatively chill next to most “vacation lands.” But there’s one, oft-underrated community in particular that embodies that air of repose: the preserved-in-time town of York.
