~Hazel Nicholson The converted basement I’d been living in for the better part of a year flooded every time it rained. It was so frequent and so bad that I kept a pair of rainboots instead of slippers beside my bed. I probably should have broken my lease and moved after the first time it happened. Or, if not then, then definitely after the second or third. But I was a stickler for finishing what I started, even if it wasn’t in my best interest. With the end of my lease on the horizon, I spent the summer looking for a new apartment. But, with the budget of a grad student, everything within my price range came with roommates, was cramped, or lacked essential appliances. Or they didn’t allow pets. (Keep reading) |
