It was so frequent and so bad that I kept a pair of rainboots instead of slippers beside my bed. I probably should have broken my lease and moved after the first time it happened. Or, if not then, then definitely after the second or third. But I was a stickler for finishing what I started, even if it wasn’t in my best interest. With the end of my lease on the horizon, I spent the summer looking for a new apartment.
