Happy days are here again at IBM ANZ. The Commonwealth Government has awarded the once dominant Big Blue a five-year one billion-dollar hardware, software and technology services supply deal covering all of its agencies.

The Federal Government has proposed new rules for resolving telecommunications consumer complaints, including setting up an External Dispute Resolution body to deal with complex complaints, that would lead to changes in the setup of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

In what some may see as a disturbing result, controversial Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom has lost a bid in the New Zealand Court of Appeal to have a ruling, that found he could be extradited to the United States, dropped.

India has warned popular mobile messaging service WhatsApp that it must act immediately to stop the circulation of incendiary messages that have caused deaths in many states such as Assam, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura and West Bengal.

Fraudulent drivers' licences are often used in committing crimes, but only one state, Queensland, has taken up the use of security technology that can prevent counterfeiting of this form of ID.

The attackers who gained access to the GitHub mirror of the Gentoo Linux project did so through use of an administrator password, with evidence suggesting that the password scheme used made it easy to guess passwords for unrelated Web pages.
