The Victorian Cancer Registry, via Cancer Council Victoria, has released Cancer in Victoria: Statistics and Trends 2018, the world’s most up-to-date cancer incidence and mortality information. Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt announced $437M for research projects via NHMRC funding, cancer projects will receive $68M and $27M for genomics research. In a separate announcement, $13.5M in health and medical research grants will be available for Indigenous-led projects QIMR researchers investigating a tapeworm protein have found an effective way to inhibit the growth of various cancer cell types. |
