Australian Minister for Health, Greg Hunt MP announced access to Kymriah, a CAR T-cell therapy, through the public health system; Novartis will partner with Peter Mac to manufacture the therapy. In a separate announcement, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Brendan Murphy, has been appointed the new Secretary for the Department of Health. An analysis of Australian Institute of Health and Welfare compared current and past lifetime risks of cancer, the result has led researchers to conclude about 11,000 women and 18,000 men are overdiagnosed each year.
