Several fire departments were called to a house fire in Zeigler, Illinois on South Pine Street. Crews got there just before 10 a.m. Sunday. They say there was lots of smoke and the back of the house was on fire. No one was hurt. Nearby homes did sustain some damage. "This fire took a lot of resources, lot of water flow, we had several lines on the fire as well as master-stream devices, being able to reach out to our partners through mutual aid box alarm system, went to a box-alarm level, we got a lot of help," says Zeigler Fire Chief Ryan Buckingham. "So it's always great, especially in these temperatures and the amount of resources that are needed."

A 45-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated arson for allegedly setting a Joliet home on fire while his girlfriend and four others, including three children, were present. According to the Joliet Police Department, Kevin Williams reportedly got into an argument with his 47-year-old girlfriend at the home in the 1500 block of North Prairie Avenue around 10:18 p.m. Williams then retrieved gasoline from the garage and allegedly intended to ignite a fire in an empty bedroom of the residence. Police say Williams' 47-year-old girlfriend, a 26-year-old woman, a six- and four-year-old boy and a four-month-old baby were inside of the home at the time of the fire. The individuals were evacuated safely by the fire department.

A fire in Normal caused major home damage early afternoon on Sunday. According to a Normal Fire Dept. press release, units responded to 808 Landau Lane to a neighbor reporting heavy smoke and fire coming from the back side of a residence. The neighbor rescued two dogs from the home prior to Normal Fire Dept. arriving on the scene. The homeowner was not believed to have been home at time of the fire. Heavy fire conditions were reported on the first floor and were thankfully brought under control in an hour. Firefighters remain on the scene searching for hotspots and assisting investigators. The home sustained heavy fire damage in the kitchen and dining rooms. The damage extended through the first-floor ceiling and burned away a significant portion of the second story. Smoke and water damage are present throughout the home.

Court St. just after 6 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire in a three-family apartment building. RFD says firefighters arrived within minutes of the call, finding fire coming from a second-floor window. Everyone inside the building had gotten out and was waiting outside when first responders got to the scene. Firefighters say the fire was contained to one bedroom on the second floor, getting it under control within 10 minutes. The American Red Cross is assisting an adult, a child, and a cat now without a home after the fire.

Fire crews responded to a two-alarm apartment fire in Oakland's Cox neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to the Oakland Fire Department. Crews were called to the fire on the 9500 block of Birch Street and safely evacuated all parties inside of the residence. The property will be salvageable after the blaze, OFD said. Video from the scene shows fire crews arrive at the two-story apartment complex that is fully engulfed in flames. Multiple firefighters in full gear them climb up the stairs, dragging a fire hose along beside them. Seconds later, crews were hosing water onto the structure.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Tulsa Fire Department says two firefighters suffered no life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Highway 75 Sunday night. In a social post, TFD said a vehicle approaching the scene of a crash near 1100 southbound on Highway 75 lost control and crashed into the original car the firefighters were working on. TFD said an OHP officer and the citizen in the original crashed car narrowly escaped, but the two firefighters were hit. The firefighters are being treated at a local hospital and were "banged up," but "Thankfully, both will be ok."

VIDEO: The Fort Dodge Fire Department is using a new tool to fight fires. The department's new fire cameras are small, lightweight cameras that are mounted to their helmets. They capture footage that most people have never seen before, and that footage could help make firefighting safer in Fort Dodge. "To have that small, little device on that helmet, that the firefighter doesn't even know it's there, is quite a change," Chief Steve Hergenreter said. Hergenreter never dreamed of this type of technology when he began fighting fires 34 years ago. "Fires happen so fast. And you don't remember a lot of things, so the helmet camera really shows how things happened in the fire," Hergenreter said. "It's made specifically for firefighters," firefighter and paramedic Mychal Edler said.

VIDEO: Sunday marks the 20th anniversary of an explosion that changed Lenoir County forever. In 2003, a blast at a manufacturing facility killed six people and hurt 30 others. WITN talked with first responders and survivors as they look back at a day that will stay with them forever. "I didn't hear [anything]. Everything turned white, and that was it," said Jim Edwards, who was working the day of the explosion. January 29th, 2003 is not an easy day for him to remember. It's the day he lost his eyesight - the day six co-workers were killed and nearly 40 hurt in a massive explosion at West Pharmaceutical. Edwards remembers waving for rescuers to help him. We've caught up with him over the years to check on his progress. "I was burnt, 63 percent of my body. I hurt every day for about six months," he explained.
