| Resident injured after fire engulfs, destroys garage in Woodstock PHOTOS: A homeowner was injured after a fire fully engulfed a garage and left it a total loss in Woodstock Saturday evening, fire officials said. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 7:37 p.m. Saturday to the 100 block of North Street for a report of a structure fire. Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said firefighters arrived within minutes and found a working garage fire. The small, single-car detached garage was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly pulled several hose lines and began extinguishing the fire, Vucha said. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes and did not spread to nearby structures. A homeowner was treated at the scene for minor burns but refused transport to the hospital, Vucha said. Vucha said the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature. David Eigenberg, who portrays Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann on NBC's "Chicago Fire," visited with members of the Sesser Fire Protection District on Saturday. The protection district had members participate in the 21st Annual Explorer Cadet Fire School on Saturday at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Urbana. "He stayed most of the day and visited with everyone!" wrote the protection district on Facebook. Eigenberg has been a part of the main cast of "Chicago Fire" since the show's start in 2012. | VIDEO: 4 Dallas firefighters injured after engine hydroplanes, falls off bridge PHOTOS: Four Dallas firefighters were hospitalized after their engine slid off an elevated roadway and landed on the DART tracks below. The accident on the I-345 Expressway, which connects I-45 and US-75, and South Good Latimer happened just after 6 a.m. Dallas police say the fire engine hydroplaned, lost control and went off the bridge. All four DFR members are said to be stable at Baylor University Medical Center. A highway sign fell across the roadway as a result of the crash. Parts of I-345, South Good Latimer, Routh Street and the DART tracks were closed. DART says service will continue to be impacted on Monday morning into the afternoon and possibly later depending on the damage. Dallas Fire-Rescue says three of the four injured firefighters have been released from the hospital. She pushed herself after growing up in foster care to become an emergency medical technician (EMT) at 19. But Beatty-Metcalfe burned out from the intensity and frequency of ambulance runs in St. Louis. She had been inspired after witnessing the heroism of paramedics who brought a baby born prematurely to a hospital by helicopter. But paramedic training seemed impossible while working to pay bills and starting a family. "That's a lot of balls to balance," Beatty-Metcalfe said. Her struggle is exactly why Hennepin Healthcare's emergency medical services (EMS) division created its trainee program in 2020, paying EMTs to work part time while completing accelerated paramedic training.
