Galesburg firefighters respond to an apartment fire A fire at a Galesburg apartment complex appears to have been intentionally set, according to the city's fire department. Galesburg firefighters were called to a building in the Sandburg Apartment complex in the 600 block of Home Boulevard just before 6:30 a.m. Monday on a report of a fire. When they arrived, they found four people trapped on a second-floor balcony. One crew used ladders to rescue the people on that balcony, while another found a person inside an apartment that was filled with smoke and fire, the department said. The fire, which was in a second-floor apartment, was quickly put out. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be intentional. The case is still under investigation by Galesburg fire investigators in cooperation with the Office of the State Fire Marshal. VIDEO: Explosion at Texas hotel, 21 injuries reported, missing person located PHOTOS: An explosion that blew out at least two floors of a high-rise hotel and injured nearly two dozen people in downtown Fort Worth on Monday afternoon is suspected of being caused by a natural gas leak, according to the ATF and Fort Worth Fire Department. The explosion was reported at the Sandman Signature Fort Worth Hotel in the 800 block of Houston Street at about 3:30 p.m. Since that time a two-block area has been blocked off in downtown where the smell of natural gas persists, officials say. The Fort Worth Fire Department is leading the investigation into the explosion and said while they have not yet confirmed the cause of the explosion, there was ongoing construction in the building and that the explosion was likely caused by a gas leak. The ATF, who had agents at the scene, agreed. Additionally, it will dispel some common misconceptions about the fire service and will showcase the first responders themselves and their unique personalities. "It can definitely be very humorous at times for sure, and I may have to keep my guys in line. No, I'm sure they'll be fine," said Zach Hamelton, a spokesperson for Haines City Fire Dept. "It's just great to showcase that human in uniform." Hamelton has experience in the film industry and considers this a passion project as he has several family members in the fire service and medical field.
