Though last year was a tough time for London’s favourite eateries, many are making up for lost time with a promising and exciting summer ahead. Considering that central London’s Chinatown is one of the top spots for East and Southeast Asian cuisine and culture, it’s little wonder that this glorious nook of the capital is ready to welcome visitors from all walks - only this year, it comes with a stunning floral twist.
From 16 June, when you walk through Gerrard Street, you’ll be able to look up and see a show-stopping floating Botanical Garden installation showcasing seven different species of flowers, all with their own cultural significance and symbolism. From the vivacious orange Tiger Lily to the delicate pink Peach Blossom, each flower offers up different meanings, including prosperity, hope, and good fortune - after 2020, it’s fair to say that we could all do with hearty doses of all of the above.
This flower installation will be hanging above the dining area in the heart of Chinatown London so after you’ve taken your vibrant snaps, using the hashtag #ChinatownBlooms on Instagram, you can enjoy the display further while you grab a bite from one of the 40 alfresco restaurants that make up this ESEA cultural hub.
Whether you’re after Taiwanese fried chicken from Monga Fried Chicken, Japanese soufflé pancakes from Hefaure or bubble tea from Cuppacha, everything will taste even sweeter - if possible - underneath this Botanical Garden display. Make sure you head your way over soon as the installation is only up until the end of August - this floral delight shouldn’t be missed. |
