Letter from the Editor One outcome of the work changes brought on by the coronavirus was 85% decrease in my traveling for work. This change had an effect on my physical activity. Since I was in town almost all the time and one of the safest forms of exercise was cycling, I was able to set a new personal best of 7,197 miles. My total time on the bike for the year was 472 hours, which when you think about it was almost 12 work weeks of riding. There is a great group of people in our club and at least a dozen of the riders had more miles than me. One fellow, a 58 year old, topped us all with just under 17,000 miles for the year. Often I am asked if there is any real value to exercising that vigorously, and what would happen if I was to cut my miles in half. Although I don’t have a definitive answer, I can direct you to a Laterpay article that our intern, Abdullah Al-Ajmi, PharmD Candidate, University of Colorado, prepared for this week. His information on the value of VPA, MVPA, and MPA in reducing mortality will definitely keep me riding for a long time. ***************************** We can make a difference! ***************************** Dave Joffe Editor-in-chief |

DNA Does Not Forget Because of metabolic memory, complications of poor glucose control may not be reversed and will continue to progress even after glucose levels are normalized. |
