Your Tuesday evening update from the Lancashire Post
View email online | | | | | Dec 7, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening, It is one year tomorrow since hospitals in Lancashire gave out the very first Covid vaccinations in the North West. After months of lockdown in a bid to limit the spread of the virus, it seemed like we could finally see some hope ahead. People who were unable to work in the hospitality and tourism industries in particular started to breathe a sigh of relief as a light appeared at the end of a very long tunnel. We can’t underestimate the level of strain this put on the economy and our health and well-being. It came, for most of us, as a bolt out of the blue and is still dominating our lives at the moment as a new variant has emerged. Even though we know the road ahead may still prove to be rocky, at least we have something to cling on to - thanks to the scientists who came up with the vaccine and the many medics and volunteers who helped to roll out the programme in the county. Yes, we are not quite out of the woods yet, but in the future we will look back at that day one year ago and regard it as a turning point in our battle against the Covid pandemic.
