You may remember we messaged you at the end of last year advising how the Office of the Traffic Commissioner is seeking to modernise by implementing a digital by default process for most of our services. From 31 January 2025, we will require that all changes to transport managers on an operatorâs licence use the digital process already available within the Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) system. After this time the TM1 form will be withdrawn and no longer accepted, and all changes must be made on the VOL system. If you have made an application for a new operatorâs licence which has not yet been granted and wish to change the nominated transport you will need to contact the Office of the Traffic Commissioner through the messaging facility available on VOL self-service to request that these details are updated. From 31 January 2025, we will also require that applications to change licence type or surrender a licence are made digitally through the VOL system. The Office of the Traffic Commissioner will still accept surrender requests from Insolvency Practitioners, a paper form will be sent to the notified practitioner address following a change in company status. In some cases, operators will not be able to apply to surrender their licence online and we will still accept requests made in writing. It is important you understand and act upon this information if required. Helping those unable to use the digital service It is important to us that the small number of licence holders who require assistance on using electronic services are helped. We will continue to provide a full assisted digital service for those operators. If you need help using the online processes, you should contact the Licensing Office: 02045518711 Notifications@vehicle-operator-licensing.service.gov.uk |
