In like Flint: Meet LSU football's new strength coach

Deciding not to retain long-time strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt was probably one of the most controversial decisions new football coach Brian Kelly made when he arrived at LSU in December.

One of the few coaches Kelly brought with him from Notre Dame was the man who replaced Moffitt: Jake Flint, who has the title of director of athletic development. Our Leah Vann has his story right here.

In case you missed it (ICYMI, as the kids say), here's a link to Wilson Alexander's story about how LSU is dealing with name, image and likeness issues (NIL, as everyone says) and particularly how they relate to football.

And we have one more football-story for you, as on the eve of LSU starting preseason camp Wednesday we take a deep dive into the Tigers' potential depth chart.

BASEBALL

The transfer portal giveth to LSU, but the major league draft taketh away (sometimes). Read about the transfer who decided to sign at the 11th hour with the team that drafted him, and the recruit who turned his back on the team that selected him and decided to play for the Tigers.

GOLF

I admit, I'm always delighted to work a golf brief into the LSU newsletter. From across "the pond" we bring you news of another impressive achievement for LSU All-American women's golfer Ingrid Lindblad, the world's No. 2-ranked women's amateur.

BOOK EXCERPT

In practice, LSU's offensive players had a rule: find All-American safety Jamal Adams. He's our best No. 33 from the book "LSU by the Numbers" as we count down toward the Tigers' Sept. 4 season opener against Florida State in the Caesars Superdome.

Until next time folks, thanks and keep reading.
