July 2020 Hi Poet!
We're now halfway through 2020, and it's hard to believe so much unrest has happened in such a short period of time. From the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic to the appalling killing of George Floyd, the world has very much been put to the test.
|
As we look forward to the next 6 months of the year, we're trying to remain hopeful that positive change is on the horizon. While unfortunately, this isn't the case everywhere and we still have many challenges to face, lockdown is easing in some parts of the world following a decline in infection rates. And we're starting to see a greater intolerance to prejudices against race, sexuality, and disability.

One example that recently caught our attention, is the "Stop Hate for Profit" campaign, which is coordinating a boycott of Facebook advertising until they do more to fight hate speech on the platform. With big brands like Coca-Cola, Ford, and Adidas pausing their large ad-spend, it'll be interesting to see if or how Facebook reacts.
As a small business, we're continuing to educate ourselves and each other, as well as making regular donations to causes such as the Black Girls Code initiative.
