Information for the media – Olympic Refuge Foundation Online Media Roundtable

In the lead-up to World Refugee Day, celebrated on 20 June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) invites media representatives to attend a virtual media roundtable on the work of the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) and the IOC Refugee Olympic Team.

This media roundtable is an opportunity for journalists to ask questions and hear directly from key figures driving efforts to support displaced athletes and young people around the world.

Event Details:

  • Date: Monday 2 June 2025
  • Time: 11 – 11.45 a.m. CEST
  • Location: Online (Zoom)
  • Language: English (French interpretation available)

Panellists:

  • Thomas Bach, IOC President and ORF Chair
  • Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and ORF Vice-Chair
  • Yusra Mardini, Olympian (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020) and advocate for displaced athletes

Prior registration is mandatory via the following link. Please register by midnight CEST on 27 May 2025.

  • The roundtable will be recorded, and the video will be made available to participating news organisations after the event upon request.
