In what looks like the final coup de grace for Australian print news, Fairfax Media has announced that it will be cutting a quarter of its editorial staff at two of its newspapers and online sites. This will amount to about 125 jobs in all. Meanwhile, NZ's Commerce Commission has quashed a proposed merger between Fairfax and New Zealand Media and Entertainment.

While Surface Pro fans wait for a new Surface Pro 5, and as Google Chromebooks dominate in education for years, Microsoft has finally made a move. As part of the “one Windows on every device” Microsoft has launched a “lite” version called Windows 10 S and it is coming on the new Surface “clamshell” Laptop aimed at students and typical home users.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over recent changes in Australia's temporary work visa system.

Hacker “The darkoverlord” has accessed most of the new season five of Netflix’s “Orange is the new Black” posting it on torrent site The Pirate Bay.
