Years after Ida, insurers see no penalties from Louisiana regulators for claims complaints

Less than two years after Hurricane Laura, the state Department of Insurance fined and publicly chastised several insurers who had drawn the largest share of complaints from homeowners. But nearly three years after Hurricane Ida, the state has not made similar moves to punish the worst-behaving insurance companies after that storm. Read more. 


Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome said the brawl Sunday evening at the Summer of Hope block party at BREC's Liberty Lagoon will not affect the Summer of Hope initiatives. The incident, which she said involved a small group, did not result in any injuries or shots fired, according to the news release issued Sunday night with her statement. Video of some of the interactions with police was posted to Instagram by witnesses, and police have since made an arrest. Read more about what the mayor had to say.
