The Austro-Hungarian architect and visual artist Friedrich Kiesler designed his Correalist furniture for Peggy Guggenheim's 'Art of this Century Gallery' in New York in 1942. Biomorphic elements, which were distributed throughout the exhibition rooms, offered visitors an interactive seating option. According to the architect, the "Correalist Instrument" model was intended to fulfill 18 different functions. The "18-in-1 object" and a rocking chair, both from a re-edition by Wittmann, are valued between 2,200 and 3,000€ each.
Furthermore, objects by Jean Boris Lacroix, Angelo Lelli and Paavo Tynell are on offer that will make collectors' hearts beat faster. Quittenbaum will be offering these designs and much more in the 'Design' auction on June 12. |
