With businesses, schools and colleges going into lockdown nationwide and in Maine, internet use from home is poised to increase dramatically in the coming days and weeks. Until further notice, visitors and seasonal residents will no longer be permitted to travel to the island of North Haven in an attempt to protect the community from the spread of the coronavirus. A Bangor man has been charged in connection with a shooting in Millinocket on Sunday afternoon that seriously wounded another man, according to the Maine State Police. Jerome Adams' remarks are a sign that infections are expected to rise in America as the government steps up testing and financial markets continue to fall. The directives from state leaders have offered only so much clarity. Health officials have said that the most recent cases have been the result of "community spread," not travel abroad. The boy is one of 12 Mainers who have tested positive or presumptive positive for the coronavirus, known as COVID-19, as of Sunday, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, seven Maine residents have been confirmed positive and five others are presumed positive for the coronavirus, according to the state. That number is fluctuating hourly, Maine CDC spokesperson Robert Long said, in part because of status changes based on negative and positive test results.
