| Hey folks, After years of never quite finding the perfect minimalist shoe, I decided to build my own. I call it Peluva and it's out now. I've tried hundreds of minimalist shoes over the years. They were either too narrow or too stiff, and even when they had wide toe boxes, they didn't allow my toes the freedom they needed. The shoes that probably came closest were the five fingered toe shoes, but even those were completely void of any cushioning and were frankly too utilitarian and unattractive for me to wear outside of the gym or a hike without being self conscious. With Peluva, I've figured out a way to marry comfort, function, and form. Peluva allows for individual toe movement, like gloves for your feet, and engages the smaller but no less crucial muscles of the feet to work during regular activities. It's a shoe that you can wear all day, for any occasion, without sacrificing comfort or freedom of movement for your toes. Furthermore, it actually encourages toe splay, so you're actively training your feet into a more natural position over time—a position that "sticks" even when you take the shoes off. I didn't want to create just another performance shoe. My focus with Peluva was to promote "sustainable comfort": comfort that lasted not just for a few treks around the shoe store but for months and years of use. I wanted our shoes to not just make your feet feel good, but also your calves, ankles, knees, and hips. Peluva strikes the perfect balance: you can feel and sense the ground beneath you with enough cushion that you can walk or run indefinitely.
