Ahead of the long weekend, we lead today’s newsletter with data from a recent study showing the great potential aligning IT with operational technology. Cost reduction, enhanced security, and process optimization are just a few examples of what some companies are promoting with IT and OT co-existing, and study authors conclude the alliance will become an inevitability. Each has its defined, and sometimes disparate, parameters, but when put in tandem, IT and OT become a whole greater than the sum of their parts—and in the majority of cases, the CIO is the one ideally positioned to broker the best strategy for the business. Simply put, “If we talk to each other more, we can benefit much more,” says Thorsten Frosch, OT security officer at Andreas Stihl AG.
