Is Eliminating the Step-Up in Basis Still on the Table?

As USDA continues efforts to expand the CRP program to help meet climate goals, one Kansas State economist is looking into what the expansion could mean for commodity prices.

Section 2032A allows the estate to pay less estate tax but will force heirs to pay more capital gains tax in the future. It effectively eliminates step-up in basis on inherited farmland if used.

The R1T features a 314-mile charge range as well as a starting price of $67,000.
