Grants from American Farmland Trust’s (AFT) Brighter Future Fund (BFF) keep farmers farming. Since 2020, BFF has provided over 2,000 grants to farmers and ranchers in 50 states and 2 territories, totaling more than $4.5 million. 100% of these grants go directly to farmers to help improve farm viability, adopt regenerative agriculture practices and access, transfer or permanently protect farmland.
Kim Andersen of Blueberry Bottom Farm in Brighton, Iowa, used a BFF grant to purchase two holding tanks to supplement her well and allow for more consistent water flow.
In Northern Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Dani Fegan of Three Dogs Seed Farm farms with her husband Brian. She utilized her BFF grant to drill a groundwater well on the property to help save culturally important and climate-adapted seeds of foods, plants and medicines.
Mariah and Travis Hurt of North Sky Farm in Harvard, Illinois, used their BFF grant to purchase equipment to sell their produce at local farmers’ markets.
