As Yishai bids farewell to Reuven at the end of a hospital visit, Yishai clings to Reuven.
| | The hug between a volunteer and a sick child is not just any hug. |

Here’s why. Three-year-old Yishai will not enter the hospital unless Reuven, Rachashei Lev’s volunteer, is there to greet him. As the nurse draws blood from Yishai’s hand, Reuven tells him silly jokes, holds his hand and gently strokes Yishai’s back as they enter the examination room. Reuven, a Yeshiva student, has one goal — to comfort and strengthen little Yishai. To give him love and support. Whatever it takes. | “Where’s Reuven? I want Reuven!” | It’s not just Yishai who seeks out Reuven. Yishai’s parents are also grateful when Reuven is present. He gives them a temporary break from their new, unexpected challenges and lightens their burden. As Yishai bids farewell to Reuven at the end of a hospital visit, Yishai clings to Reuven, his friend, his protector. He is too young to express in words, but his hug communicates to Reuven his love and his gratitude. |

For Reuven, it’s clear. He knows that for few hours on a Tuesday morning, he was the most important person in the world to little Yishai and his parents.
It's all in the hug. |
